Pig Pen Truth

Pig Pen Truth
By Donna Schlachter

Do you remember Pig Pen? He was the little kid in the comics who always had a dust cloud surrounding him. Everywhere he went, the dust cloud followed him. And when he left, some of the dirt was always left behind.
It’s the same way with us. Living in this world can make us dirty. We pick up all sorts of dis-ease -- worry, distrust, anxiety. And this dis-ease affects our heart. We must wash the cares of this world away with the pure, living Water of Jesus Christ. In Luke 6:45, Jesus tells us that good things come from a good heart, bad things from a bad heart. The words that come out of our mouths are the reflection of what’s in our heart. Do you have a problem with cursing? Complaining? Gossip? That’s because you have heart trouble.
How do we get healed? Take it to God. Second Corinthians 5:17 tells us: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” Once we are able to cast away whatever is tainting our heart, we must fill it with God’s Word, and His plan for our lives. If we do this, there won’t be any room for Pig Pen’s dirt to come back.
God, please cleanse my heart of anything that is not from You. Fill me with Your love and power. Amen.
